BoSox Claim Traber Off Waivers
Billy Traber, memorable to this Tribe fan for his near-perfect game against the Yankees in 2003, was claimed off outright waivers today by the Boston Red Sox. He had spent the entire 2004 season on the 60-day DL, rehabilitating from off-season elbow surgery.
Acquired from the Mets in December 2001, Traber and Alex Escobar were the principal prospects received in the Roberto Alomar trade. The Tribe also received Matt Lawton, Earl Snyder and Jerrod Riggan in the deal. Only Matt Lawton remains with the Indians.
