Garko, Aubrey, Snyder Named First-Team All-Americans

2003/06/20

Baseball America released their College All-American teams yesterday. Three 2003 Tribe draftees were named to the first team; first-rounders Michael Aubrey (1B, Tulane) and Brad Snyder (OF, Ball State) as well as third-rounder Ryan Garko (C, Stanford). Aubrey and Snyder were also named Player of the Year in their respective conferences (Conference USA and MAC), while Garko shared the honor in the Pac-10.

The Indians have inked Aubrey and Snyder to contracts, assigning Aubrey to Lake County and Snyder to Mahoning Valley. Garko will finish his college career this weekend versus Rice in the finals of the College World Series. Boyd Nation suggests that Aubrey played in a pitchers’ park last season while Snyder’s stats were inflated Coors-like by something in the Indiana air.
